GEOFF CROWHURST MEMORIAL AWARD

This award celebrates a South Australian who makes an outstanding contribution to community cultural development.

The award has been named after the late Geoff Crowhurst and honours his memory and his achievements in the arts, particularly his contribution to community arts and community cultural development.

Community cultural development is defined as a process in which a community creatively determines and expresses its identity, celebrates its differences and addresses issues of importance. It is guided by a philosophy of community involvement and ownership.

The term “community” can be defined by:
• geographic location, cultural background, religious belief, gender, disability or other common factors

• a group of people collaborating with professional artists to express shared experiences.

THE AWARDS ARE OPEN TO:

  • professional artists
  • community arts workers
  • facilitators
  • volunteers
  • local and State Government
  • private enterprise
